The singing turtle told by Pamela sunshine
This is a wonderful story called The Singing Turtle. I learned it from a wonderful book by Margaret Read MacDonald called Look Back and See: Twenty Lively Tales for Gentle Tellers
It is my go to book for stories that children love.
Yesterday on our last day of school I told the children the story, “Kanji-Jo, the Nestlings” a Mende story about a mother bird who loses her babies when she is stolen away before they hatch. The children loved singing along with the song and being part of the story.
The same goes for this story, they love coming up with ideas for animals that the turtle can imitate in its song.

Sally Go Round the Sun and Pamela Sunshine on Soundcloud
After presenting a workshop on Singing Games at the ECEBC conference in May with my friend and colleague Loretta Jackson, I created a soundcloud page for Pamela Sunshine Music.
This is meant to become a resource for parents and Early Childhood Educators to hear songs, chants and singing games as well as Nursery Rhymes for children.
Eventually I would like to see the lyrics and instructions for all the songs up as well. It is a lot of work and will take some time to complete, so it is a work in progress, offered with love to all who wish to share it.
Here is one of the songs so far.

Presenting at the Early Childhood Education Conference in May.
I am preparing to leave for the ECEBC conference in Richmond, Celebrate the Essence of the Child and Champion a Better Future. Loretta and I are presenting a session on Singing Games,
"Bluebird, Bluebird." :-)
We will be presenting at 10:00 and sharing our philosophy about including singing games in your day with children. They are so important and bring so much to everyone who participates in them.
We are also going to be singing and playing games with the participants.
I am setting up a soundcloud page to upload the songs from the games so everyone has a place to go and hear the melodies again. I often feel this is a problem with these kinds of workshops and we play the games together and then teachers go home and can't remember the rhymes or songs. So this is a great resource for us to share.
We have a lovely sunny day for our drive to Richmond. We have know each other for many years and are currently doing our Master In Arts in Education together and I am happy we can be doing what we love today.

New soundcloud site for Pamela Sunshine Music
I thought I would set up a soundcloud page for my kids music. It is site where you can listen to lots of music. I just uploaded Garbage Free Sea and will be adding songs as time goes by. Of course you can always get it on iTunes but sometimes people just want to listen and browse.
I am doing a singing games workshop with Loretta Jackson on May 4th at ECEBC and I thought I would upload some singing games to the soundcloud page for all the teachers and parents to listen to at their leisure. Or perhaps even a separate page for just the games.
Let me know what you think of soundcloud.
