Winter lights at the Lantern Festival

Pamela Sunshine, a.k.a. Pamela Carr was among those who performed at the fourth annual Lantern Festival, much to the delight of crowd of young children. The festival was at the Haney Place Mall.

The fourth annual Lantern Festival was held last Friday, (Feb. 24th) at Haney Place Mall featuring music, performances, and poetry readings.
But the highlight of the event was a lantern parade around Memorial Peace Park that started at 7 p.m.
The free, family-oriented festival brings a "bright spot in the dead of winter," according to the lantern festival's co-chair Sammy Nelligan.
The lantern festival began as a lead-up to the 2010 Olympics with Spirit of B.C. celebrations. But the tradition is expected to continue long after the Winter Games in Vancouver faded into the history books.

Lantern Festival February 24th, 2012

I am so happy to be performing again at this years Lantern Festival at Haney Place in Maple Ridge.  I get to do two sets, one of my childrens songs and one featuring my songs about the Fraser Valley.

The fourth annual Lantern Festival will begin at Haney Place Mall this Friday at 4 p.m. with music, performances, and poems, and end outside with a lantern parade around Memorial Peace Park starting at 7 p.m.
The festival will bring a "bright spot in the dead of winter," according to the lantern festival's co-chair Sammy Nelligan. The free family-oriented event will include local dance groups, and as a new feature, Hmong dancers from northern China.
